Long Interview: Katherine Trebeck

When is a country rich enough? On the face of it this is a simple question, but once you dive below surface, it becomes an apparent that this is fiendishly difficult to answer.

There is one school of thought now that says that traditional economics with its focus on Gross Domestic Product, and particularly GDP growth as the answer to a sustaining an economy, is counterproductive to creating a healthy and stable economy.
Bill Whiteford discusses the thinking behind the challenge to orthodox economics with Dr Katherine Trebeck is a political scientist, and a former senior researcher at Oxfam.

Currently she's at the Wellbeing Economy Alliance and has co-author of a book called The Economics of Arrival.
