Ian is pushed to breaking point when he is left to run all the businesses on his own. It is the night of Jean's date, but she is guilt-ridden. Will she reveal all?

Ian's overwhelmed with the businesses, Lucy's refusing to help and Jean won't return to Scarlett's. Ian promises Carl another instalment. Jean's guilt-ridden and Kat distracts her with a make-over. Ollie's set up a ball game at the allotments for his date with Jean. Although initially dubious, Jean enjoys herself. Jean's rocked when Ollie mentions he's a policeman. She's disparaging about herself but Ollie isn't put off and kisses her. Jean's happy until Lucy tells her Ian's losing it. Hearing the restaurant smoke alarm, Jean rushes in and finds Ian standing by a smoking pan. Ian talks honestly to Jean, insisting he doesn't deserve s friend like her. Feeling terrible, Jean blurts out that she caused the restaurant damage.

Carl's got a birthday card for his mum. He admits to Kirsty he hasn't seen her since his release, nor does she know he and Kirsty split up. Kirsty offers to go with him to visit her but is adamant they're going to tell her the truth.

Denise discovers Shirley left the B&B because her benefits were cut. Phil and Jay find Shirley sleeping in the Arches. Phil takes Shirley for breakfast then to his house for a wash. Shirley insults Phil and insists she was the best thing that ever happened to him. Phil gives Denise 拢500, Shirley's rent for two months, on the understanding Shirley doesn't find out. Denise claims to Shirley her housing benefit will cover the rent after all. Phil asks Shirley if they can call a truce but, unaware of what he's done, she refuses.

Alfie invites Janine and Michael to the pub for his big announcement. Janine arrives at the Vic dressed up and Michael's hopes are raised until he realises she has Danny in tow.

Alfie warns Kat he and Roxy are planning to announce their engagement.
