Adapting to landslides and floods in Nepal

As leaders discuss locally-led adaptation at COP28, we met with a community deeply affected by the impacts of extreme weather in Nepal

When disaster strikes, communication is key - providing critical information, including where to safely seek shelter and how to find food, water and medicine, and inspiring people to survive and cope.

Effective communication can also avert disaster - by providing critical information about the risks, and supporting people to plan and to cope.

Our new film, Living Climate Change Nepal, examines the impacts of extreme and unpredictable monsoons, including landslides and flooding which have destroyed homes and threaten livelihoods and even children's journeys to school. It looks at how one community is coping - and why support for disaster risk communication and planning is essential to save lives.
